I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first class honours degree in Biology in 2001 and originally intended to train as a patent attorney. However, before going travelling at the end of my studies, I spent some time working as a paralegal in the trade mark department of a private practice firm in Birmingham. This developed my interest in trade marks and so, after joining Dummett Copp in 2002, I decided to concentrate on becoming a registered trade mark attorney. I became an Associate of the firm in 2004 and qualified as a UK and European Trade Mark Attorney in 2005. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.
I act for a broad range of clients operating in a number of different fields and always try and tailor my advice to best suit their commercial needs. I enjoy taking an active role in the management of clients' intellectual property portfolios helping them to make best use of their IP budgets and ensuring that their business interests are well protected. I have built up a broad range of experience in trade mark matters including acting for clients in large international trade mark filing and assignment/due diligence programmes, European wide Community trade mark conversion projects, trade mark clearance searching as well as UK and European oppositions, appeals, revocation and invalidity actions and dispute resolution.
In my spare time you will find me spending time with my family, including taking my two children to a parent and toddler group that I have recently set up in our local village hall. I am also an active member of the committee of volunteers who keep the village hall running for the benefit of our community. When I get a chance to do so, I also enjoy swimming, yoga and Pilates.
