Licensing
Licensing is a common way of exploiting intellectual property rights. Generally a licensing deal involves the grant of rights under certain Intellectual Property Rights in exchange for payment of a royalty, but licensing deals can be very simple or very complex.
Intellectual Property Rights have their own characteristics which are not the same as other types of rights. To draft effective licence agreements, it is important to understand the nature of those rights and the implications of all the clauses in a licence agreement; which clauses which should be included and which should be omitted. Dummett Copp attorneys regularly advise IP owners on licensing issues and have much experience in the drafting of the necessary agreements.
